Seems these have gone on sale for pretty good prices at a few different places.

Does anybody own one or have first hand experience with them?

I have seen them at local gun shows and I really liked how they felt in my hand and how balanced they felt. I know the slide is a 224 but is that an issue?

I always found the grip on the 224 to feel wrong, even with the extended magazine in. No such problem with the 229Cs

Thanks

TBH I've never heard of them until this thread. Never touched one in person, but the 229 has always been my favorite Sig grip. I guess if the length of a 229 bbl is a concern for ccw then the 224 slide makes some sense for it.

Ok...the LGS I work at got 15 of these Wed afternoon. We have two left today, selling at $599. I owned a regular no rail 229, and I really like the feel of the 229C SAS much better. I have not had a chance to hit the range yet, hope to this weekend. Saw one today on gunbroker going for $999. FYI, regular 229 grips will not exchange with the G10s that are on the 229C SAS.

was tempted to buy one off of GB for $599 but lgs had a mint unfired P226 in .40 they sold me for $475 plus tax.

one reason I went with the P226, the P229 carry is actually a P224 with extended grip.  Unsure if that matters, but I am stickler for proper model nomenclature.  It seems Sig needed to unload P224 parts and this was the solution.

Is there an issue with the 224 slide?

I have read that the first batch of P224s had a bunch of extractor issues, however that seems to have been corrected.  From what I can tell, the P224 was discontinued in the last year or so.

I had wondered about the P224 being discontinued and even had a thread here about it. The responses I got was no reason to think it had been discontinued. My opinion was based upon what I have seen is its on the way out the door. It is no longer listed on the LE sales list which to me was a key sign.

However with this being said, several new models have had reported issues when first released. I thought I had read something about the slide rails or something being different design on the 224. No clue what and wondering if there was an issue with it.
