Got our new 229 DAK's in .40 cal this week.  our agency transitioned from a standard 229 DA.
I am very pleased with the trigger on this pistol.  I was not a Sig fan when I initially was issued my229 DA three years ago.  I had always been a Glocker copper.
The dak is so smooth and user friendly, there is no way not to like it.  I highly recommend it, and this from a self proclaimed Sig hater (now reformed).

Anyone know if one can modify a standard P229 to take the DAK trigger? I'm Homeland Security lol - but it will be some time before we get our P229-RL-DAK's and I want my own person gun similar to an issue weapon. I already own three other Sigs but really want a P229.....No rush - but if the DAK can be installed in a standard P229 - I might go that route and buy a used P229 for now....I prefer the single action vs double action setup - but I also want to train as I fight - so to speak.

No.

The frame for the DAK has been altered to allow the different parts.  We asked at armorer's school two weeks ago...  Now, can you take a DAK and make it traditional DAO or DA/SA, I don't know.  I just bought the very gun you mentioned, for $599 LE price  It has the DAK trigger, Rail, three 12 round mags and night sights.  If you take a Sig Academy class you get $100 back on the purchase of a new gun... so I will be taking advantage of that too!

That's too bad we can't convert.  I was seriously interested in converting my 226 since I don't want the rail.

That sucks - I guess I will wait until I see a Sig P229 RL DAK for sale at a normal price then. We probably wont get issued the new guns for a while, but its pointless for me to get a normal P229 for personal use and then be using the P229 DAK trigger for work. I'll stick with my P228 for personal use for now. I would buy at LE price as USCG but I'm not fortunate enough to attend any SigArms academy courses. We have guys that do - but they never deploy - they just get all the cool schools. Thats another story altogether.

Back on topic, I am looking forward to firing the P229 DAK. In the meantime, I'll buy a few P229 mags just to be on the safe side - I still don't trust Congress after 1994 and I WILL have hicap mags for all of my guns.

Range Report:

Shoots well.  The first shot is lighter at the 6.6lb level.  If you use the first reset on the follow up shot it's a little heavier but not too bad.  I was able to double/tripple tap a LOT faster than my DAO duty 229.  I was using CCI crap Blazer.  It was fine, and plenty accurate enough to get the job done.  I would say this gun is Sig accurate, no different than the rest.    Can't wait to get 'er broken in and do some 25yd. bench shooting.

J_Smith-  Where are you stationed?  I work CLOSELY w/ Sta. Marblehead crew.  PSU is nearby too.  Although they don't have much to do with us LE types.

As for the rebate from Sig, that's if you take ANY of their classes, not just armorer.  So go take a shooting class or something
