I just got a Smith and Wesson 422 on trade last week. I can't figure out how to field strip it. Anyone out there know how to? FORD |

Oh man. I used to have one and wish I could remember to tell you. It is a lot more simple than my 22/45 I tell you that. The 422 is one of my favorite 22s of all time and I Kick my self regularly for getting rid of the ones I had. Congrats. Edited for spelling. |

S&W will send you one if you email them, but until then: There is a tool it comes with that is little more than a 1/2" long peg with a handle. I think you can use a fired 22lr case in a pinch. You pull the "slide's" breechblock back, insert the case (or tool) in the gap ahead of the breechblock. Let the breechblock go forward and you should be able to pull that serrated plate near the front of the breechblock up and out. This frees the recoil spring and the breechblock should now come off the gun. That's all I've ever done with mine. I don't recommend trying to disassemble it any further. If this isn't clear enough, let me know. ETA: This gun isn't listed, but for future reference: www.again.net/~steve/page7b.htm |
Boy I walked straight into that one. |
