I'm looking at getting a sti tactical ss in .40 with 4" barrel. I have a kimber in the same length and like the size. I have more. 40 ammo than 45 and thus the 40 choice. Anyone have experience with it or heard anything? Google only shows sti site and pics of it. I have wanted a .40 1911 and think this might be the one. Any experts please share opinions on it. I know the barrel is a great attribute but I'm curious why it is one of the highest msrp STI out there. Talking gun, not optics, mounts etc. Thank you.

Looks cool! But their Duty 4 looks even more wicked!

Not exactly what you're asking, but I just got my first STI (2011), and I can easily see why everyone shoots them.  It's a great gun.  I believe STI is a very high quality firearm, and (if I had extra coin lying around) would not hesitate to purchase another STI.... probably a 5" Tactical SS

I've been looking to buy one (in 9mm) sight unseen but I've already got a custom Eagle 6.0 so I have no concerns about being disappointed. I'm just debating about whether or not to buy another gun right at all. I've been on a buying spree for the past year.

I was going to get a Duty One last year until I heard about the full rail version in the works. I'm glad I waited because on paper, it appears to be every bit the pistol my Eagle is.

Good to hear army. I eventually want a 2011 if I can get into steel matches but right now work and location don't make it plausible.
