I received one of these from my ole man, new in box.  I do not have a whole lot of experience with the 1911.  The grip safety seems to get hung up just a tad, feels more like a “step” when gripping the gun.  I have about 100 rounds through it with no other problems.  I have a Kimber Warrior and the grip safety is smooth on it.  I looked around online but didn’t find anything matching my issue.

I did a full disassemble, inspection and cleaning after I shot it, put it back together and I still feel the “step”.  I do not have the pistol with me now, but I think I remember the bottom of the grip safety (raised contact pad part) had some play side to side, if I push the raised part down and right or left it feels to stick more so.  The top part where the safety goes through seems to have tight tolerances (no binding).  Any ideas where is start looking to fix?

Thanks for the Help!

I had a Kimber that did something similar and it drove me crazy. It never affected function, though. The problem with that gun was that the grip safety would slip off a little ledge milled into the frame. No other 1911 I've owned has done it.

Did you do anything to fix it or left it as is?

Thanks,

I just dealt with it, but sold it eventually.
