I'm looking for a used .38 revolver for my wife.

I came across a Model 15 Combat Masterpiece. It has a 4" barrel with wooden grips and adjustable sights.

Are these pretty decent wheelguns ?
Is this considered a K frame model ?
Does anybody have any history on the Model 15 ?
What's is different in a Combat Masterpiece ?
Do they all have the firing pin built into the hammer ?

Thanks,
Jim

The 15 is a great gun. It's similar to the 10 & 14 but with the fully adjustable rear sight like the 14. It is a 38 Special and I think you'll find it very accurate even at way past normal pistol ranges.

Yup, it's a K frame.
Combat Masterpiece was more marketing than anything else.
Yes, they all have the firing pin on the hammer and it's normal for it to move up and down.

The Model 15 is the high water mark for S&W. They just don't get any better. Regards, Richard

I carried one before we switched to the 9mm, great gun, I waited until the last opportunity to trade mine in, I WAS IN LOVE WITH MINE.  Oh well progress.........

As a K frame, it was THE police firearm......might want to consider the SS version, Mod 64.  Or .357 version, Mod 66.

Triggers are really sweet when worked on.
