I traded for a like new Mod. 29 with 8 3/8 barrel today. Made in 1985. Looks great and shoots great. After zeroing in, I had no problem hitting pie plates at 100 yards shooting in the kneeling position. With that being said, that barrel is just way long for me. Anyone know where I can get a four inch, five inch or even a six inch barrel for it? Thanks for any information.

If you can't find a shorter barrel and decide to sell the pistol, I would like to buy it from you.

I would sell the gun for $600.00 and I'll pay the shipping. I have the original box, and papers with it. I really like the gun, and it's a nice addition to my collection. but right now I am into model 25's, and would sell it to buy another or I would trade the 29 for a 25. Thanks.

If that's the case you may like looking at this gun....

Looks like just another 25-2 in 45ACP....    until you see this marked on the barrel,

It's a 1955 Target Model profile barrel incorrectly marked as a 1950 Target Model.     I'm gonna get paper on this gun to see if it's original, supposedly a limited number of 25-2s got out with incorrectly marked barrels making this a somewhat rare gun.

Found it for a relative song in Ca. too, 500 bucks with original wood presentation case.    I'm crossing my fingers that it is original.

My current goal is to aquire an actual pre-model number  Model of 1950 45ACP, 44Spl, or preferably both.

Personally, I don't like a barrel on a revolver longer than 6-1/2", so I know what you mean.  My father had an 8-3/8" nickel M29 when I was younger.  He said he just liked the looks of it, until he shot it.  He was used to his 29-2 6-1/2" and the barrel was just too much.

I have a 6-1/2" 29-2, but I have it to him since he missed the one he used to own when I was a kid.  So, I shoot my 4" 629-1.  It's a great shooter, and I can hit a gas grill propane tank at 100 yards with it every time with my reloads.  I don't do max loadings for it, and I'm thinking about going down just a little more for extended shooting sessions.  I use 10gr of Unique now with a Lyman 429421 or a Lyman RNFP (I forgot the number).  But, I'm planning to try some loadings using about 8.5gr of Unique.

My friend has a 41mag, nickel, 8-3/8" in a presentation case and he likes the long barrel.  It just doesn't balance for me that well.

Ugly gun, you are making me covet that M25 you have there, looks like you have a real find. I would gladly trade my M29 for your M25Hawgleg,

You'd probably like my other M25 as well, a 45LC -3.   It's a shooter too, darn nice one at that.   It really loves 185grn Nosler hollowpoints at 900ish fps.
