Can anyone tell me a fair price for a S&W Model 57, 6" barrel, 41 Magnum, Blued.  I don't know what year it was made.  TIA, Jim

Depending on condition, a beater would sell for around $300, NRA VG around $400, NIB w/ papers around $650.  There is even an engraved one right now on Gunbroker.com for almost $3K.

Loot at www.gunbroker.com and www.auctionarms.com, that'll give you a better idea of a price range to shoot for.

BTW, very nice revolver.  The old S&Ws are real works of art and nobody has EVER made a better revolver.

The 6" bbl restricts it to hunters only buying it, IMO. Kinda narrows the herd on buyers, I would think????

A 4" bbl balances so much better on a N-frame, IMO.

Yep, those 4" bbls balance well, almost as good as a 5". Don't be disheartened, even ol' Inspector Calahan used to drag around a 6" N frame. N frame prices in general and not just some strange or rare variation have been going up since the inception of the safety lock on Smith revolvers. Find a way to keep it and work up some mid-range loads for it. Can't have more fun with your pants on.

I have an unfired 6' 57 non pinned or recessed and a gent here over to the house offered me 500 for it and that was without box or papers.
