| This is a pistol my dad bought a long time ago. He hasn't used it in years because you can't hit the broad side of a barn with the thing. However, Ive read around on different forums that a lot of police used to carry it as a duty weapon?! it must just be this gun... Does anybody have any experience at all with this weapon? is there any accuracy upgrade such as a better barrel or anything? also, anyone know where to find wood grips? |

The 469 (blued counterpart of the SS 669) has been my wife's primary CCW for more than two decades (she has two that have seen much use/carry, plus a 669 that she's barely touched). Great pistols IMHO, and plenty accurate depending on your familiarity and practice (and, to a lesser extent, hand size and shape). My wife is dead nuts accurate with them but I don't shoot them well at all; but I shoot my Glocks very well and she can't shoot them. Guess that's why they make so many different pistols, eh? Seriously, if you believe the gun itself is inaccurate shoot it from a bech, rested (or from a Ransom, if you have access to one). If indeed the gun has a problem, I suspect S&W would take care of it –– my dealings with their CS over the years have been very good experiences. The only aftermarket grips I've ever found for the 469/669 were plastic or rubber (my wife's wear Uncle Mike's rubber panels). I read on the S&W forum that wood 6609 grips can be made to work with a bit of cutting/fitting, but I've never seen it first-hand. |

Bought mine new in 1984. Carried it as a duty weapon for four years. Kept it until the end of last year, when I sold it to a friend to pick up a Sig Sauer P229 in 9mm. Loved it! Slapped a set of Pachmeyer grips on it and put a whole lot of rounds down range! A little practice and you'll be very accurate with it. Great pistol! |
