How much money do you want to spend? ($400 - $3000+)

What do you intend to use it for? (fullsize or compact)

Springfield Loaded is a good gun from everything I have heard.  Be prepared to tinker with it.  These are not like polymer pieces.  They need a little TLC.
It will probably run great right out of the box.  Then one day, it won't RTB, or FTE, any one of another couple dozen problems.  So, read everything before you start having issues.
Keep it clean, shoot the crap out of it!

Then go buy three more.  They need mates!

Once you have one, you'll have another and another and other.....  Because I have found no pistol that has as sweet a trigger as a 1911.

Good Luck!

If you've had Sigs for years and like them, why not get a Sig 1911?  Honestly.

Good choice, although mine is a Commander size . Top one... 7 shots from 30 ft . From a rest . Bottom the same .

If you don't mind used you should be able to find a TRP for a grand.  Much better gun than the Loaded.

OP,

I was in a similiar predicament roughly 3 weeks ago. I had 1600.00 in my pocket, and an LEO store full of 1911's to choose from.

In the end, I had a TRP operator (1304.00), Tac Ops with TB (909.00), LW Champion Operator(790.00), and a P220R Carry (643.00) on the counter. I was hot and heavy for the TRP Operator until I ran into the Sig. Handling hem back to back and comparing features to price point, the decision was clear!

I own a Sig 1911 now. The TRP isn't a bad gun, but the TacOps is a direct competitor to it with all the same features, but its made in the US and has less MIM if that sort of thing bugs you. Also, the Smith E-Series is a fantastic gun as well. A friend owns the Smith and its been trouble free through many range sessions. My only real dislike on the Smith is the BTGS, it looks kinda o cheesy in comparison to the rest of the gun.

Hey Smith! Pony up for a damned Ed Brown or Wilson BTGS!!!!

I am trying to decide really if I want a Sig Scorpion Carry or the Springfield Loaded. I probably would carry the scorpion more.

Are there any issues I need to know about the scorpion carry or the loaded?

When someone asks, "Why should I pay more for an expensive 1911?  Aren't all 1911s equal?"  I would like to show them this picture.

I bought a loaded. For my sister and it turned out to be the biggest piece of shit weapon in the entire family. Things had more work done than Joan Rivers and it still needs sights and the frame to slide fit is atrocious. It's made in Brazil as well.  Please do a side by side comparison of some of the competition before you buy the Springfield. It's worth a couple hundred bucks more to get something maybe a little more expensive than the loaded. Have you check out the SIg Scorpion?

There  seems to be a lack of recommendations for Colt
So I have to do it
Got my 3 colts 1911's recently all for 1000 and below.
Pre owned colt rail gun like new with case- $850
1954 pre-series 70 -$895
Series 70 gold cup-$1000(tack driver)
There are still good deals out there, you Just got to look sometimes.
I was in the same boat awhile ago looking for my first 1911, so I decided on the
Brand that  put the 1911' s on the map. Just my 02 cents.

In the price range you are looking at, check out the Sig TACOPS. It has more options than the Loaded for close to the same price. For a couple of hundred more bucks you could get a new Dan Wesson Heritage or used Springfield TRP.
