I need to replace one Screw Bushing and need to know which brand will fit a Springfield best.  I have heard Wilson Combat will go too far into the frame and hit the magazine.  How is Cylinder & Slide ?  Are they a good parts maker ?

Brownells carries several different types.  Can't remember which ones I ordered, but they worked OK on my Springer.

I like stainless for the corrosion resistance, even on a carbon steel frame.

You can get by with a wide tip flat blade screwdriver, but it's better to use a bushing driver bit.  Brownells carries these as well.

Lastly, if you don't know how to stake the bushing into the frame, degrease the threads and use red loctite.

Its been a few years, but I've used the Wilson's on a Springfield and they fit just fine. I've replaced at least two sets with Wilson's.

Wilsons don't generally go in further than any others.  I've used many tyoes, and I simply go with the cheapest quality ones I can find, such as the ones that carry Brownells brand.

The bushing driver is almost a must.  If you use a screwdriver, make sure to use a blade that fills the slot.

The bushing going into the mag well is always a possibility.  Simply put install, and check.  If it extends in to the well, carefull dress the back surface on a piece of sandpaper placed on a hard, flat surface, or on a fine cut file, or even a shrpening stone you don't care about.

Once you know it's going to fit properly, at the very least, degrease and loctite in place.  I degrease, loctite, and stake the back end with a bushing staker.

"I have heard Wilson Combat will go too far into the frame and hit the magazine. "

Sounds like they were not staked correctly.
