I went back a few pages, didn't see anything approaching this subject so I figured I'd hang this out there for the collective. Wondering what the 1911 experts here would consider as "must haves" in a serious 1911 owners/builder's library? I'm looking for books that really deal with fitting of parts and gunsmithing of the 1911. Been laid up for the last 3 weeks and going nuts, nuts enough that I'm putting a plan together to buy a mill for the basement and a Rock Island for the mistakes and see if I can't teach myself some 1911 work. I have ZERO plans on making this a career or anything - it's just for me to build 1911's I like for myself. Wondering what books might be the more beneficial or if others can recommend specific youtube channels I should be subscribed to that show things like fitting a barrel properly, safeties, and general 1911 work - I'd be much obliged. I know the Kuhnhausen books get a lot of play, they're expensive and all but are there others I need to buy? I've already ordered Ed Brown's CD-ROM. Thanks all in advance. |
