I'm looking to do the 40 to 9 conversion but I can't find a place to purchase a new 9 barrel.
I haven't called S&W yet but googled the crap  out of it and only came up with a barrel on armslist.
Your help is appreciated fellas

Rumor is storm lakes is working on one, currently no conversion barrels available.  People were buying 9mm straight from S&W but they've since put an end to this, now it is very difficult to obtain any OEM barrels from Smith (good going guys), even if you are not trying to use one as a "conversion barrel."

This is good to know.   I would like an OEM 9mm barrel to simply change calibers while out shooting.   Getting mags for the 9mm isn't a problem.

IIRC the 40 to 9mm conversion, even using the S&W parts was never 100% and shouldn't be considered for a carry gun.

I sure wish Storm would make the 357 Sig conversion barrel. I have been on the list for over a year. When I called Smith they pretty much told me that they would not be releasing a Shield in .357 Sig, nor making barrels.

I love the round, want a Shield chambered for it, but no way in hell would I shoot one from a "converted" 9MM barrel.
