I struggle with my gun twisting in my hand when shooting handguns. Happens worse with 40 but also does it with 9 and even mildly with 22. Since 22 does it a little too it's obviously something I'm doing wrong. Makes me not very accurate and follow up shots not quick at all. Anyone have any idea what it could be without seeing it?

Have you tried both thumbs pointing forward?...

Sounds like you have a weak grip. Strengthen your hands.

For me:

1.  Thumbs forward.
2.  Isosceles stance.
3.  Torqueing both hands inward on the pistol, with less grip emphasis on the strong hand.

Things that helped me when I was still figuring out my grip was the admonition to get both hands as high as possible on the gun, and to get as much of your support hand on the gun as possible.

Grip strength is important too, mostly for recoil management and repeatable sight tracking.

I encourage you to experiment.

Make a fist with you strong hand. Now wrap your weak hand around it. Both thumbs should be on top. Envision your gun in your hands.

Sixty percent of the grip is in your weak hand. This make it easier for your trigger finger to do it's job. And to control the gun.

Depending on the gun you may have to move your trigger finger further into the guard to help control recoil. Especially in smaller guns like the Shield.
