| Shop has a NIB, blue, Series 80 for around 750.00. Should I trade my 4" S&W 686 and pony up some cash? This gun would eventually be turned into a classy retro build. I currently own a Kimber TLEII and a S&A G.I. with the YoBo Enhanced treatment. |
NRM Series 80. Overall fit and finish are there. Also, with the nice consistent Colt Bluing and polished flats. This one would be set up with a bobbed hammer, 25lpi front strap checkering, retro rear sight, night sight up front, new solid long trigger, fit bushing to barrel and thats it. The 686 is nice but almost never used. Either I'll trade or save and put the gun on lay-away. |

That's not a great price on a NRM 1991, but if you've inspected it and it appears to be free from the usual Colt defects like the off-center recoil plug hole, etc., it's a fair enough price. Sounds like there is nothing to be lost by trading in the newer 686. I suppose it all depends on how much you'll get for it. |
