The DA trigger pull on my 1993 W. German 220 is looooooooooong and HEAVY (got to be around 8-10lbs). Are there springs i can replace myself to help this, or can anyone reccomend a smith near NY that don't have a 2 month turn around time? I do not want to take a chance with light primer strikes, so anything that would do that needs to be avoided. I also want a short trigger installed. Anyone know a ballpark figure for this work?
Quoted: Top Gun Supply I have a W. German, and it has the roll pin, so i'm not sure if it considered the "old" P220. Top Gun says they only have short triggers that fit the new p220 (10mm) wide. |
| I dont think sig makes a short trigger for w.german 220. 8lbs is not bad at all for a DA pull. They are suppose to come from the factory at 10lb. You can lighten the DA pull by replacing the mainspring with a lighter one ,but you want to be careful not to go too light and cause light primer strikes. |

I don't know the specifics for your question(s) but I will direct you to Bruce Gray at Gray Guns for work. He has a few packages to clean up the actions for P series guns and could help you out in achieving what you want. I hear his work is excellent.

| Back in the old days, Sig used to offer a DAO conversion for law enforcement officers. It featured what became known as a yellow (because it was painted that way for id) mainspring. It was just an 18 pound mainspring that replaced the 24 pound stock spring. I've run that set up in a lot of SIGs and it really does produce a nice trigger pull. DA drops to about 8lbs and SA drops to about 4lbs. You might also polish the rough edges on the hammer strut as you'll have to remove it anyway when you do the swap. Get a good book on SIGs, check the Wolff Gun Springs site for the part by the SN on your pistol. It's not terribly hard, but if you have a friend, a third had does make it easier to compress the spring and insert the roll pin on reassembly. Good luck. The 220 is a dream with the new spring. |
