I just read that the 226 has a 20 round mag. Does the mag sit flush or does it stick out like those really high cap Glock mags? Edit: I just read where the 20rd mag sticks out about 2 inches from the magwell. Supposedly there is a 17rounder that was made that sits flush. |
More so than the factory Sigs. The Mec-Gers (which someone else above spelled out correctly) are good for all 17 rds brand new right out of the box. I have had new Sig mags that needed to be downloaded a round during the first few magloads to make sure the first round would chamber upon activation of the slide release. |

The 17 round Mec-Gars use a shorter follower, which allows them to hold two more rounds. The factory Sig mags (also made by Mec-Gar) use a longer follower (to make it less prone to tip in the mag -- and more reliable), therefore it only holds 15 rounds. This is a Sig specification to use a longer follower for extra stability (and sacrificing room for the 2 extra rounds). Though the 17 round Mec-Gars use a shorter, more unstable, follower, I've never heard of anybody having a problem with them. And some people only stick to the 15 round factory mags for carry, because they feel they're more reliable because of the longer follower. |
