I have been hunting for a carry 9mm that I really liked for almost 7 years. I have tried about every "baby" 9mm that came along. For a long time a Sig P228 was my carry gun. Then I bought an M&P Shield in 9mm. It is just OK. Better than some I tried, worse then others. I really like the 228, but want something smaller, without a funky trigger. I have a Sig 938, again it is ok. As a huge fan of the Sig Classics, I think I have every model but the P239, 9mm. You guys that have & carry one, what do you think? I guess what I am asking is if anyone can talk me out of it???? I know I can get a trigger kit for the shield. The P239 SAS Gen 2 just looks like the thing for me. Ready to go right out of the box.
Thank You, Mark |

I have a 239 in .40, and like it. The grip has an interesting shape, though. I have average size hands, and I find that the front strap sometimes ends up right straddling the first joint in my fingers (ie, the first bend in your finger after the knuckles). It's not a turnoff for me, but it doesn't feel as good as a 229. Hogue grips would probably fix this for me, but then the grip wouldn't be as small/concealable.
Also, the actual grip size is disproportionately small, relative to the slide. If you line up a 239 and 229 slide, they're not remarkably different -- but the 239 grip is noticeably smaller than the 229. All that to say, l'm happy with mine, but would prefer to carry the 229 provided I could 1. legally CC and 2. wear clothes that would conceal a 229 (one of the downsides to being skinny and wearing fitted shirts). |

Again, thanks for all the advice. I am going to get one. Two things are stopping me, 1. I won't have the $$$ until the end of Jan. 2. Finding one. I am getting so tired of the crap that has gone on the past few years. Used to be, if I had the $$$ & found something I wanted, it wasn't a big deal getting it. Now you have to wait on everything, guns, ammo, etc. It is about driving me crazy. The P239s have been around for awhile, you would think finding one wouldn't be hard. That is finding one at a good price. I have bought enough Sigs that I know they aren't cheap. My last 3, a 226, 228, 229, were all Police trade ins. These guns are like new. I can't believe they were traded in! I know many departments change guns because the chief wants it. My 228 & 229 were both Fed. trade ins. I am hoping to find a NIB 239, Probably in 9mm.
Thanks guys, Mark |

Carry mine in 9mm every day. One of two guns I own that has never hiccuped for any reason at all (none of this "it wasn't the gun's fault" crap...it has NEVER jammed or failed to feed). Mine isn't even the SAS, although the SRT has a heck of a nice reset. I don't know of any reason why you could possibly regret getting one and carrying it. I'd vote go for it!
Btw...it groups as well at 25 yards off hand as most full-sized handguns. Amazing accuracy considering the size... |

small...accurate...concealable...accurate....(yeah, 2x) what's not to love? I have the 239 in 9mm. I installed Hogue grips--it now fits my hand like a glove. I probably shoot it better than any other pistol that I have with the exception of my CZ75. The p239 is fantastic! |
| It's an amazing handgun. Sure the specs don't add up - it's heavy, big, and low round count compared to today's guns. But when you shoot it you'll see. It's so accurate and reliable and an amazing gun to shoot. It performs like a full size gun. I can't say enough good things about it. |

I have owned a P239 in 40 s&w, but never loved the .40 cal round...
I just bought a P239 SAS genII, and find it to be one of the easiest handguns to shoot EVER (for me) Rapid fire with this gun, and my front sight just stays on target...... i put some Hogue G10 checkered grips on it, and it has had ZERO malfunctions. http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t497/spec4towle/022_zps702d1837.jpg http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t497/spec4towle/010_zpsaab66929.jpg http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t497/spec4towle/001_zps6e90a2b2.jpg |
