| What's it shoot like? What is the recoil compared to a .45. Thinking about getting a legion p229 in .357 for my next gun. |

I currently own a 229 in 357 sig. Recoil is not noticably more then a 220.
Good round. Good stopping power, at least on does at 30 yards. The only 'problem' is muzzle flash with some rounds. Mainly Remington and Speer in low light situations. Sort of like a bright camera flash. My 229 is very accurate with the 357 but price of ammo limits practice. I currently have a Barsto barrel in 40sw and it has the same poa as the 357 barrel so no sight change is needed. When I carry it concealed I use Winchester range hp's, low muzzle flash and will drop deer out to 30 yards. Pigs, who knows. People, txdps has had good results. With my 229, I need to get a 9mm barrel. My extracter will grip the round for extraction. Get the gun. |

Think of a really really hot 9mm Reliable expansion is helped by a wide cavity in the bullet- narrow HPs can be easily clogged with clothing or barrier material. The huge advantage with the .357Sig is that it's a bottleneck cartridge, so the hollow point can be wide and won't cause feeding failures. 9mm needs to be narrow to ensure feeding, so it's a bit of a compromise. Load a 125gr HP bullet from a .357sig into a 9mm case and you'll likely get jams left and right. |

Quoted: I have not shot the 357 Sig in the 229 but have in the Sig P320. My impressions from a Glock 22 shooter for over 20 years. I felt the P320 in 357 Sig had less recoil and muzzle flip compared to the Glock 22. The 229 is a heavier gun so I assume it will shoot with less felt recoil and flip then the P320 in 357 Sig. Oh and yes I really like the way the 357 Sig shot so I ended up buying a Sig P229 in 40 and will get a 357 barrel. I could not find a 229 in 357 Sig that was in the condition of the CPO 40 cal for an excellent price. http://i.imgur.com/BwVuE7R.jpg?1 |
I sold my P226 .357 and had sellers remorse. Years later, a new .357 SIG P239 SAS gen 2 with extended factory 8rd. mags made me a lil' feel better .
You can find factory ammo for descent prices every so often -- I picked up Remington for $17 a box a couple months ago. During an ammo/gun scare, .357 SIG ammo is the last to sell off the shelves, but one of the last to come back in stock at a good price after a panic. |

What's it shoot like? What is the recoil compared to a .45. Thinking about getting a legion p229 in .357 for my next gun. While I like .45 for casual carry, I mostly carry .357 SIG. I've been carrying it in 229s and 226s not long after buying them in the late '90s then a Gen 4 G32 and G31 within the last couple years. To me, .357 SIG feels like a quick, firmer recoiling .45 ACP, without the snappiness and muzzle flip of .40 S&W. I can make faster follow up shots with .357 SIG, too. |

I didn't trust the 9mm despite its current popularity rejuvenation. |

That's been my experience as well. I'm new to the .357Sig, but after a LOT of research I decided to give it a try via a new P320. All the negatives I had read about recoil and flash were not true- I found it easy recoiling and pleasant to shoot. Best of all, I trust it. I didn't trust the 9mm despite its current popularity rejuvenation. Quoted:

All the 9mm mouse guns lovers tout how bullet designs have improved the 9mm. Really !! And manufactures haven't applied that new bullet technology to the 40's and 45's. Right. All the 9mm mouse guns have is less recoil. Yes true. 124gr, vs 180gr, vs 230gr. More weight equals more recoil. Just go to the gym and man up May the flames rain down now.
