If you were going to buy a Sig in .380 ACP, would you go with the P238 or the P232 and why?

I like the SA 1911-like style of the 238 but the 232 looks more comfortable to carry and shoot.

I have a P232 for those times when lack of size is more important.  I don't care at all for the mini 1911 clone.  Never have been a fan of external slide safeties.  I think being unique enough to have ones own designs was something that I respected with manufacturers many years ago.  Now everybody seems to be making their own versions of everybody elses designs.  Lack of originality isn't the way to go IMO and I blame the former Kimber Management team (the same one that ran that company into the ground) now working at SiG for the downfall of a once greater brand than it is today.

I had a SIG P232, and while it was a great handgun, but I could not get really comfortable with the European mag release. Also, my idea of a .380 is for deep cover CCW, which for me means pocket carry, and the P232 is a tad too large for that. The P238 is a single action and therefore would not be my choice for either.

My personal choice, if limited to just a .380, would be an NAA Guardian. For a slightly larger auto (But still smaller than a P232) I like the Kahr PM9 in .9mm. For a revolver, the S&W 340 or something similar.....

QFT. Don't you just love the people that fail their way to the top? Look no further than the auto industry for a prime example.

Sorry to hijack.

why the resistance to single action .380s? I have noticed that sentiment elsewhere...

I don't mind single action .380's, but for my own personal use a .380 is a deep concealment, pocket carry sidearm and the single action does not lend itself well for that. I prefer a double action, hammerless semi-auto (Or revolver)..... No hammers to get snagged and no external safety to worry about.....

After buying my P2000SK, I sold off the P232 for a S&W 642 because the P2000SK was pretty much the exact same size as the P232 except a 10-round 9MM (and less weight).

The P232 is a beautiful and extremely accurate handgun, however.
