Well, I just picked up my Trailside today. It is the 4.5" barrel version with adjustable sights. I had the exact gun with fixed sights a few years ago. I am anxious to shoot it this weekend. Any other Trailside owners/enthusiasts in the crowd? |
Yep, I am. everytime I go to the range to shoot my 1911, Sigs, AR, whatever, I ALWAYS take my 4.5" Trailside and warm up with 50-100 rds of .22. I have a Docter red dot sight on mine. The gun runs flawlessly (unlike my Sig Mosquito) and it is a blast to shoot. |

I also have a Trailside that I bought a couple years ago mainly for my son to shoot. It's the fixed sight version. The only problem we have had is the little black plastic frame extension likes to fall off during shooting sessions. Sig sent me a replacement free when I lost my original. Now we keep an eye on it when we shoot. Good luck with your new Trailside! Regards Jon |
larrysguns.com/hammacc.asp Jon, possible solution: if you have ~$60 to invest, Larry's Guns (see link) has a metal frame extension that stays on, and improves the gun's balance. I've got one, and like it. |
+1 - 4.5" Sport (fixed sights) w/Ultra Dot Match Dot. I love it, and so do my shooting buddies. I have not experienced any of the common complaints. Mine's been great. |
| I like my Trailside but my Trailside doesn't shoot the cheap bulk pack ammo well. Won't shoot it nearly as accurate as my Ruger MKII or my S&W 41. Shooting CCI standard or mini mags or other better ammo the Trailside does much better then the Ruger and is really quite accurate. |
I buy SK Standard plus for my Trailside and CZ-452 by the case (about $0.05 a round last time I bought some). This weekend I was out plinking with my buddies and took out a ceramic lawn gnome at 75 yards with the trailside. It was kind of a lucky shot - I was just holding over with the Ultra Dot - but it impressed the guys who were shooting with me. |
