| I've always liked them. They are some of the best in speed/penetration. Do you guys thing they'll stay around ammo wise in the long run?. |

Having a pistol in .357 Sig is wise, I think. Getting spare barrels in 9mm and .40 S&W would be a good way to have flexibility in your ammo supply availability.
.357 Sig never disappeared locally during the Sandy Hook panic. I really need to buy a .357 or .40 chambered Glock just to have all three cartridges in one platform. |

I have a 357 sig, er sig p23 something or other. I bought a 9mm barrel so it takes two seconds to change calipers, I'm sure Glock is the same. It's fun Rouen to shoot. Are any police still using it? I'm in Houston. I think DPS is still rolling Sig 229's. Not sure nationwide. |

I didn't need to click on this thread lol! I've been trying to come up with every reason in the world that I don't need to buy an M&P .40 trade in and you guys aren't helping after seeing that I can just get an additional barrel and run .357 sig out of it. Don't be a pussy. Let's do it. |

It's an off the beaten path caliber wise. But it's a hell of a performer in the penetration Dept. Not one to usually like weird stuff, but I have the itch. Only one way to scratch it. I think that's a Glock 32 answer. You aren't off the beaten path until you're getting into 9x25 Dillon. |

I have a few (G23/32/27), carried a G32 for 10 years, rarely shot 357Sig out of it because the ammo was so damn expensive(dropped in a 40 barrel to shoot it), the ammo is often time uncommon to rare when you do find it, and ultimately I retired the pistol because I want to shoot my carry gun in the caliber I carry.
The cartridge is cool and it moves rather quickly but what does that honestly give me over any other service caliber. If I cannot shoot it and practice often with it seems like a waste. |

They will be around as long as I can get brass! I have a pretty good stash of it. I should shoot some just so I can reload more......
As far as the shooter, it is a Glock 22 with a KKM .357sig barrel, so the buy-in is very cheap if you can get brass and already have a Glock. |

I'm in Houston. I think DPS is still rolling Sig 229's. Not sure nationwide. My understanding is that Texas DPS is switching to full size 9mm M&Ps, but officers are allowed to keep their Sigs if they want to. From what I've seen, .357 Sig is effective but has fallen victim to similar perceptions as 10mm, that it has more recoil and is more difficult to control than 9mm. I think it will stick around, but as others mentioned, the ammo will be harder to get (less manufacturers willing to produce it), and as a result, price will go up. |

It's not going anywhere. USSS and FAMS still use it.
I've been shooting 357SIG for over 15 years. I love it so much I switched my department over to it in 2008. My current gen4 31 issued in 2010 has over 40k rounds through it with no issues. I change the RSA yearly just in case. One of our SWAT guys has over twice that through his gen3 31 issued in 2008. We shoot a lot since the department provides the ammo. I've already budgeted for next year to switch all our guns over to gen4 31s. |
| Getting out of .357 Sig was one of the smartest firearm related moves I ever made. Costs twice as much as 9mm, tricky to reload, lower capacity, harder on the frames, marginal ballistic advantage. Â Any advantages it has over 9mm are outweighed by the disadvantages. |

Our local SD issues it in 31 and 33s
The Firearms trainer a captain cut his teeth on .357 Mag wheel guns. He liked the caliber because of it ballistics but also felt it was enhanced because not a lot of common folk used it and he thought it would make OIS scenes easier to interpret |

I've always liked them. They are some of the best in speed/penetration. Do you guys thing they'll stay around ammo wise in the long run?. In the long run concerning ammo, I hope so. I own a G33 Gen 4 that came with a new OEM G27 barrel at time of purchase. I really like the the 357 Sig round! I shoot and carry it with confidence. And, it works 100% in 40cal 22rd magazines that I usually have one in the console when traveling. Ammo is expensive I'll agree. But In the last year I've been lucky enough to stock up on over 3,000rds of FMJ and JHP. Mixture of Speer Gold Dot and Federal HST. Great round which I'd like to see price come down on in future. |
| I put a 357 sig barrel in my g22. Great round pretty snappy definetly snappier than 40. For range ammo I use 125gr Speer lawman tmj. And for carry ammo I use 125gr sig elite. An ro at a range I go to gave me some 100gr frangible stuff he got from some FAMS but it wouldn't cycle in my gun or his g32 it felt pretty hot though |
