Love my 229 Homeland in 40 with a DAK. I have a 357Sig barrel, so caliber change is just a barrel swap. Consistent trigger first time every time.

It depends on the clothing you will be wearing.

I have a P220 Carry Equinox that is easily concealable and very comfortable in a horsehide Super Tuck but I usually wear casual clothing and untucked shirts.

The gun, which doesn't have an extended beavertail,  hides nicely under shorts and a tee shirt as well.

A P220 compact would likely be even easier to carry and maybe a P229 would be also.

If it were not for the TFO front sight which is a great sight but whose durability I do not trust,  the Carry Equinox would probably be may daily carry gun.

This picture was taken as soon as the holster arrived, before it was worn.:

Except for the 3.9" barrel and lack of the extended beavertail, this pistol is the same frame size as the one you already own, the compact has shorter grips as well as the shorter barrel.

There is no such thing as a handgun to big to carry concealed, its just you adjusting to the gun.  I have a fullsize M&P on me now, and no one knows its there.  Good holster, good belt, adjusting it exactly where you want it, and carry with confidence.

However, I am not saying that this not a good reason to get another gun
