I have this REAR sight.....(front one was ruined....dont ask)
REAR SIGHT PIC. Can I use this FRONT sight with that REAR sight? FRONT SIGHT AND, how do I determine which height? .185" or .190"? Thanks. |

The front sight in the first link shows staked for a 1911, while the second sight needs to have the slide dove tailed cut for it to fit (60* X .300 X .060).
.060 of the dove tail site will be in the groove before the sight plan, plus about .010 where the top of the slide will be flattened, so in regards to matching the two front sights, you a dove tail until .070 longer for the stake in sight to put the tops on the same plain. As for if you just want to go staked in front sight again to replace the old one on a 1911, then here, http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=13171/psize=24/Product/FRONT-SIGHTS So on that note, confirm that we are talking 1911 with staked on front sight, and give us the measurement of the old sight as well so it can be matched to a replacement front sight. |
