Just ordered my P229 from CDNN. I am going to send it out and have it finished in hard chrome - just the way I like my pistols.

When they plate it, they will of course remve the sights and they could replace them with other sights for me while they are at it.

What sites would you guys go with, or are the stock ones fine? I know there are are night sites but they only seem to last ten years or so. Could go with a three dot site, I like those. What is out there and worthwhile?

Or just stick with the originals?

Thanh you in advance.

I'd say go with the night sights. They'll cost more but have the same use as a three-dot, and with the advantage of going through the night and low-light situations. I thought the life length was longer than 10 years, somewhere around 15 or so.

Then again, it boils down to what you're going to use the gun for. If you're even planning on carrying it or using it as a home defense firearm I'd say to go with night sights. If not, then three dot would work fine as it's probably only going to be used at the range.

I found these, and they look interesting:

Trueglo Sights

But I am not sure if a P226 uses a #8 in the fron and #8 in the back, or a #6 in the fron and an #8 in the back.

Any ideas how to determine which is the correct sight?

EDIT - I see that the # is supposed to be etched into the sight. Looks like I have to wait for he gun to get here.

Are you going to carry it?

I always recommend xssights for carry pistols.  They're not 3 dot, they're unconventional.

If you've never shot them you probably think I'm on crack.  If you have shot them, you know exactly why I recommend them for carry pistols -- extremely fast sight picture, regardless of daylight.  There's no better sight for a serious carry pistol IMO.  With these sights you will significantly decrease your draw to fire time, period.

If you're just looking to plink, I'd stay with the standard sights.

I'd say go with the night sights.  I have them on one of my Sigs and it spoiled me.  I'm tempted to covert the others to NS as well.
