I'm going to replace the rear sight of my Kimber Custom II TLE.
I wonder if I shall drift out the sight right to left of left to right (looking from the hammer) or if it makes no difference.

Thanks.

NO doubt someone will come along & say for certain, but it seems like I recall that the sights need to be removed left to right, looking at the rear of the gun. IOW, drift it opposite of the mag release.

Maybe SGB can shed some light on this??????????

Most sights are installed right to left, removed left to right.  That's the general rule.

When you loosen the set screw, and you go to drift it...and it doesn't want to move - before you beat your sight up or mar your finish, you might want to use a little heat to loosen up the loc-tite that is most likely under the sight.

Take care,
Bob

It comes out left to right. However I highly advise that you allow someone with a sight pusher do the work, Kimber sights are KNOWN to be a horrendiosly tight fit.

Thank you guys for the support.

I make a kind of fixture of soft steel plates coted with tape and I put the slide in that into a vise. I drift the sight off by a screw. A piece of alluminum between the sight and the top of the screw helped to avoid scratches on the sigth side.

I warmed up the dovetail with a hair drier and it went out very easly.

Thank you again
