Hey guys, I have a S&W Sigma .40 that is giving me all kinds of problems. The first problem started after using the gun all through the police academy with no major issues. It double-feeds most every shot. It also stovepipes a lot. I tried different mags but that didn't help. I tried different ammo and a different shooter. I thought it was an extraction issue so I sent it to S&W under warranty. They put in a new extractor and sent it back. There was no change, it still jammed every shot or two. This has become a very frustrating issue for me. Doesn't S&W test-fire the guns they fix? If they don't, they should, because now they have to pay for shipping a second time and I have to go through the hassle of shipping it a second time. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? As for the newest issue, the trigger won't release the firing pin (unloaded) unless I pull the slide slightly to the rear while holding the trigger to the rear. What's up with that? This gun was reliable one day and very unreliable the next, I really don't know what happened. It wasn't dropped, slammed, abused, or allowed to rust. Any ideas? I'm sure I'll eventually send it back to Smith, but just wanted to see if you guys had heard these concerns before. Thanks. J |
This sounds extremely odd, IMO. First off, I would call S&W & go over all the issues you've had with the gun & how it wasn't fixed the first time. Personally, I would ask them for a complete credit towards a different/better gun. Sounds like this one may never run well despite what they do. Even worse, your confidence in the gun won't be what it needs to be either............. ![]() My .o2 |
