I posted in the Ruger forum a couple days ago, but it seems like people mostly discuss autoloaders there.

This is my first single action revolver, a three screw single six made in 1958. I looked at getting a .22 mag cylinder, but from what I've read, before 1963 the barrels were not bored to .224 and should only be used for .22lr. It has had the transfer bar conversion unfortunately, from what I've read they are smoother in their original configuration. I think the trigger suffered from the conversion, but overall I am very happy with it and impressed with the quality. Seems to be in very good shape for a nearly 60 year old revolver.

Unless came from the factory with a .22 Mag cylinder it is .22LR only. I have a '72 production three screw that is a .22LR only.
