I just bought a new back up gun that uses single stack magazines. I'm going nuts trying to keep the top round in the correct position in the mags. It's not a 1911, but I thought this would be the best place to ask since you guys deal with them all the time. I am used to carrying double stack guns in a primary pistol, so I haven't really had to deal with this issue before. Any suggestions?

What you are asking seems a bit out of the norm for a quality 1911 SS mag (even though that's not what you are posting on).

I would guess it is one or both of the following problems

Weak spring: replace with Wolff spring and it should retain the round tighter

Iffy mag design: if no competitors make a better mag to replace, you might consider getting a quality mag carrier to protect the round from being jostled/repositioned.

I would hope this is a BUG or range rod if the former happens to be the problem. That's one hell of a bad fix to be in when reloading should SHTF.

When does the top round start to slide out?

Is it when you pull it from a mag carrier?  That can happen with 1911s, so you might want to consider a different type of mag carrier.
