I had an unusual experience this morning with my 17 and 34.  My slide was not locking back on an empty mag and brass was being thrown on my head.  I've never had these problems with either gun (the 17 has 4-5k rounds through it and the 34 only has around 400) or with any of the 5 magazines I used today.

Lest anyone think it is my grip or how I'm shooting, it's not.  I've got 10,000 or so rounds through my various Glocks over the years and do not have grip or technique problems.  I suspect that the cause was the Winchester white box I was shooting.  However, I've never had that problem with WWB in the past.  That being said, the last 600 or so rounds fired through the 17 and nearly all of the rounds through the 34 were Speer gold dot 124 +p loads and the guns ran perfectly.

Can anyone recommend the best springs to try so that I can confirm my suspicions and continue to train with the WWB?

My first guess would be to replace the mag springs. I replace them in our guns frequently and use only Glock springs.

Do you know anyone near by  with the same model glock? See if you can borrow there mags and save on the springs if that is not the problem.

Doublecheck the spring on the slide release.  I had similar issues until i realised that i had put the spring in wrong the last time i did a total take down.  Just remove the slide and push up on the slide relase. If you dont have spring tension it is installed wrong.

also, if you have been using the slide stop as a slide release, then it is possible that the slide stop has rounded off from the friction of contact with the slide when disengaged.
