So I just got my first glock not too long ago and had this issue a few times while shooting it. I know it's my fault from how my grip is way to high up on the gun and the heel of my palm/ the meat at the base of the thumb engaging the slide lock while firing.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue/ training scar? I usually shoot m&p's for what it's worth.

FWIW I don't think it's possible to have your grip too high (other than the strong hand experiencing slide bite).  I've never seen anyone press up on the slide lock with the base of their support hand thumb, I've seen a few do it with their strong hand thumb.  I do it with the Glock 42 but not the 43.  My solution is to wrap my strong hand thumb over onto the base of my support hand thumb to make sure it's not near the slide stop.  I won't carry the G42 because of this.

Not saying its impossible but I've never seen it and I've trained a lot of recruits with huge paws.

Gotcha. That's how I saw to fix the issue was to push down w/ my strong hand thumb like you said. I had a black mark on the meat area of the base of my thumb on my support hand after shooting it so that was kind of a dead give away of what was going on IMO.

I have this problem myself and was an issue with my Walther PPS when I first got it.
