Not to poke you in the eye, but why would you ship what is essentially a heavy metal bar in a padded envelope?  Boxes people.

ETA:  Call Smith and Wesson and ask them about purchasing a replacement slide, or:

Improperly titled thread.

Hopefully UPS can find it or S&W will sell a new one on to you at a decent price.

Did you spend the few bucks it would have cost to insure it? If not, you're probably SOL.

Ive used them a dozen times, so I let them weigh it, then I paid and left.  Unwise, I know.  But I never thought it would be a padded envelope. And since its sunday, I cant call UPS obviously.

there was a guy on another forum that broke his slide doing an install of sites. I recall SW charged him 200 for a new slide.  Next time i would suggest a USPS flat rate box. $5.00 each way.

Thanks for the info.  And yeah I wont be making that mistake again.  Hopefully they will find it and return it to me

And do the online line Click-n-Ship to do the lable. It's cheaper and the DC number is free online.

Print, put on the lable and drop in the mail box.

Well... you did ship it without any precautions.  And you did ask for suggestions on what to do...

I'd say you need the obvious pointed out to you, such as... wait until UPS is open and then call them about the problem.

But... whatever.

Good luck to you.

Man that sucks.

I hate to say it, this is on you.

Padded envelope, no insurance? You let them set you up to fail.

They are not going to find it, God knows were it is; truck, loading dock, train compartment, street corner????

You are very lucky...next time you will know how to avoid this problem.  :-)

Also, you can slap a shipping label directly onto a Pelican case, zip tie through the locking hole, and its as secure as it can be.  My previous company shipped $100K computer systems direct through UPS, and we ONLY ever shipped in genuine Pelican brand cases.  Not one was EVER damaged in transit.

Yep. Moral of the story is, no matter how many times you use them, stay and make sure the packing is up to snuff. I was very lucky

Hell, I'd pack it myself at home so I KNOW everything is well padded and sealed. Half of the UPS guys at the shipping centers can barely use a computer.

It made it all the way to the PO of its destination.  Guess it punched out right before it went off on the truck to go to his house.  Its a very small town, and it didnt take long to figure out who had it.  Lucky!

Did you insure your package?

well I guess you got lucky, make sure you insure valuables when you place it in the male that will make you a little less nervous when something gets lost!
