I have a 9L 5"  and a 40 Pro 5".The 40 has a RMR on the slide and the 9 just has Fiber optic front sight.  I know I can swap out the whole top (slide and barrel) with the frames, 9 top to 40 frame, 40 top to 9 frame but what I want to know is can I take the barrel and guide rod/recoil spring form the 9 and use it in the 40 slide and frame.  I'd like to use the RMR on the 9 without having to remove it and reinstal on the 9.

I wouldn't see why not.I know you can use a compact 9 barrel in a 40 slide so I don't think a full size would be much different?

Yes.  There is a minor amount of play between the 9mm barrel hood and the .40 breech face but I've yet to see anyone complain of reliability issues on extraction with either the compact or full size.

I took a mike to the inside of the muzzle and there seems to be a couple of thousands difference.  I've been waiting for a Storm Lake or other after market barrel to make the proper switch but well you know how easy they are to get in these panic days.  Just thought I would shoot a couple of matches and see how I like the red dot with out screwing up the slide.
