| I saw in a magazine today that S&W is making a 617 PC convertible. It is a .22LR and comes with another cylinder for .22 Mag. I cant find info anywhere on it and am curious if anyone knows where the heck I can find it? |

These convertables aren't the end all-be all, IMO. I once had a Colt .22 with both cylinders & wondered about my accuracy. I found out the gun had to "share" the bore size between the two calibers rather than a "true" .22LR or .22mag bore.
The LR is a hair smaller so the bore had to be a bit smaller than mag bore to keep it from rattling down the bbl. Since then I buy only dedicated caliber guns & accuracy is no longer in question.

Thats food for thought as I never really thought abput that. Guns (like cars, women & shoes) don't normally do well when they try to be more than one thing, IMO. Changing the entire bbl such as a TC or an O&U shottie is an example of the exception(s), IMO. |
