| I have recently started doing a lot of dry fire practice with my SIG 226 so I bought some aluminum snap caps. The first one I put through has seen A LOT of trigger pulls. The brass insert is beaten up and stuck inside the cap. Anyone else killed one of these through normal use? |

do you need to have a snap cap on the chamber to dry fire? If your P226 is DA/SA like my P229, I bet you've got one tired trigger finger. You generally don't need them for centerfire pistols, but if you're going to be dry firing a lot they certainly won't hurt anything. They're great for clearing malfunctions. |

i use various ones including previously fired cases. you can make you own if you can deprime them. you can insert trimmed pencil erasers into the primer pockets or squirt some silicone. make sure the silicone is dry tho. I like that idea! I haven't been able to find pencil erasers that will but but I definitely have some extra silicone around. |

A-zooms for me as well. They are getting a little worn around the rim of the snap cap, but they're still working fine. Same for me, but they work and they also have helped to smooth the trigger on my M&P +1 for the A-zooms. They've smoothed out the trigger on my M&P as well. |

I made my own dummy rounds by drilling out the flash hole to the same diameter as the primer pocket, then turning down a plug made of Delrin that would fill the case volume, keep the bullet from setting back, and also protrude through the primer pocket to cushion the firing pin.
I drilled a couple of holes through the sides of the case so that it wouldn't be confused with a real round, then seated a FMJ on top. |
