| Is this correct, in their .45ACP models? If so, I'm assuming that this FP, coupled with an extra power FP spring, is how they keep it "drop safe". |

My .45s, loaded/TRP/Operator, all had the .75 FP. My 9mm has a .70 FP. I'm going to do what Ken has done and replace the one in my Loaded as its my game gun and I would like to run a lighter MS and still have good ignition plus I hate TI FPs! My STIs have dawon Hyper drives and I'll try that in my 9mm and .40 SS probably since I think they are .68 but extended. |

From Ed Brown's catalog: 1911 Firing Pins Factory firing pins are often weak and subject to failure. These top quality firing pins are precision turned from heat-treated tool steel. Proper weight for positive ignition with heavy duty springs and any type primer. Usable with all 1911 type pistols including Colt Series 80 and 70. Springfield 38 Super and 9mm slides use the oversize diameter pin for heavy loads. At present we are the only manufacturer making the correct size pin for the Springfield 38 Super slides. All Ed Brown, Baer and newer Caspian slides use the 38 Super firing pin, Part #825. If you are unsure which pin you need, measure the diameter near the tip where the pin strikes the primer and compare to the listings. The Hardcore® firing pin has a LIFETIME guarantee against breakage. 824.............Firing Pin, 45ACP............... 70 or 80, .090 Diameter................ $5.95 824-HC......45 ACP, Hardcore®.............. 70 or 80, .090 Diameter.................$5.95 825.............Firing Pin, 38, 9mm, 10mm.. 70 or 80, .065 Diameter................$5.95 826.............Firing Pin, 38, 9mm.............Springfield, .075 Diameter............ $5.95 IIRC, the one I got from EB was the 826,, but the ones from my Springers measured .070. |

Yup I found out that Ed Browns .075 for springfields don't work. You could turn it down a little and they would be snug. EGW has .068, .073, .075, and .093s. I'm using the .068 right now but I might try the .073 and see if that will fit right. FYI TRP, MC operator, Loaded black stainless, Loaded 9mm, Loaded .40 all have a .070 Ti pin. MC operator is brand spanking new. The TRP is a couple years old, the 9mm about 5-6 and the .40 is a 2001 model. I'm currently running a dwason hyper drive in my .40 and will in my 9mm which is .065 or .068. I tried the new steel FP in my .45 today and it ran fine except for a couple of light strikes but I'm hoping it was high primers and not the 17# MS I'm using. |
