Anyone have/shot/know much about the big Sphinx handguns from a few years ago? They seem like the uber-CZ; just wondering if anyone has any experience with them? I've sort of had a crush on them for a bith.gif

They look nice and are expensive.  They are basically Swiss made CZ pistols and last I heard they were out of production.  Unless you collect guns and want to rub it with a diaper all day, I would find a more practical gun.  I have not shot them, but have handled them an gun shows and they did not seem that special considering what else is available these days...

supposedly best cz75 type out there.

i never handled the 9mm, but the .380 they had out was REAL sharp.  very well made.

i'd grab one if it was cheap

Yeah, the few AT-2000's (the big ones) I have seen were pretty impressive; no doubt about the workmanship on them. The .40's seem a little more common than the 9's. Common being a relative thing...I have not seen one around locally for quite awhile.

Maybe I can justify it as a cheap alternative to a Sig P210!

My applogies, it looks like they are not out of production but are  just as rare.  The 3000 Titanium looks pretty clever.  Check out thier website...

Thanks for the link. I'm not asking for much; a 2000S or 2000PS would be just fine!

No US distribution anymore, though, by the looks of it. Weren't the earlier ones imported by Sile?

Man, I'm not sure.  But, I would not hesitate to pick one up if one landed in front of me...

Why bother with a clone, when you can get a real CZ75?

For some reason, Sphinx seems to advertise thier pistols as top shelf match grade pistols.  I probably wouldn't buy a run of the mill CZ.

What are the advantages of a CZ made in the the Czech republic vs. a Sphinx?  I'm sure quite a bit of $$$.

Great.  Thanks for the tip.  I don't know any CZ shooters.  Buying the real deal might be a good way to save a few bucks...

I definitely wouldn't kick one out of bed for eating crackers.  I'd prefer one to a real CZ myself, but I LOVE CZs!  Hell, just get 3 CZ-75s for what you'd pay for the Sphinx!

I would be the Sphinx pistols are VERY nice, and very well made, but they are probably impossible to find in the US.

CZ pistols are readily available... but the prices went up a little bit.  They are still the best value.

I picked up a 75B a little over a year ago... runs like a champ.
