Hello, I am currently looking at 3 SA 1911 models, and I would like to hear the pros/cons of each.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and the three models are as follows:

1911-A1 Loaded with night sights, and is parkerized

TRP Model

Professional Model

The loaded looks like a good deal to me, is less expensive then the others, but how is the performance?  The TRP looks good also, what is the difference between this model, and the Loaded?  I must admit that the Professional is high in price, I like the idea of a custom 1911, but is it worth the extra coin?  Reliability is my number one concern, after that is accuracy, and to be honest all three look fantastic so looks are already covered.

Please help!

TRP is what I went with.  i also have a loaded that I have been working on and upgrading/rebuilding.

The TRP is all around the best pistol SA offers for the money.  If you can find one used you may even get a better deal.

Difference between them is the Loaded is SA mid range 1911, the TRP is the High end right below the Trophy Match and Custom.  The professional do you mean the Operator??? Because the Operator it falls between the Loaded and TRP and is a good pistol.

The TRP over the other models comes with front strap checkering, tighter fitting of the pistol components, night sights standard, some have rails some do not, g10 grips standard, mag well standard some of the Loaded's come with and without.

Thanks for the quick response.  If I am not mistaken the Professional is a Custom Shop 1911 that is a little above the $2,000 price range.  Now about that TRP, should I do with the railed verson?  Personally I don't think I will use a tac light, but the option is always a plus.

You're correct.  The Professional is a Custom Shop piece built to the FBI's specs.  The TRP is a semi-custom pistol built with many of the same feature sets as the Pro but without the custom attention to detail.  It's still a very, very nice pistol.  The Loaded pistols were Springfield's answer to the Kimber Custom Classics (the first basic 1911s with some enhanced features as standard equipment) and are entry level guns with some enhanced features such as Novak Sights, a beavertail grip safety, ambidextrous thumb safety, and a full length guide rod.  All are good pistols for their range.

Which one is best really depends on what you're looking to get out of it.  As a casual shooter who wants a nice 1911 to plink with or maybe even enter a local match now and again, the Loaded will be just fine.  If you're looking to do some serious shooting with it, like regular competition or self-defense training, you may benefit from having a TRP.  If you want a really top grade, duty ready weapon, get the Pro.

I got mine with no rail.  I like 5" Govt 1911's no rail but this is my preference.  I also did not want the Bo-Mar sights I just want Novak sights on my TRP so I got the SA TRP Armory Kote and never looked back.  But the rail is nice also if it was my taste I would have got it.  My reason for not getting the rail is I will never put a light on one of my 1911's I  have 10 Glocks 9 of which can take a light (I never drank the laser kool-aid so not a concern for me).  If i was back in Iraq or Afghan and got another 1911 I would take a rail then.

Thanks for the outline.  It is looking like the TRP for me as of right now.  Basically I am looking for a nice looking 1911, that I can train with, and for daily CCW.  Basically something I can use in a tactical arms class, and trust my life on.  The only handgun I have right now is a M&P 9mm, I like it, but after shooting my friends 1911 I fell in love.  Plus I have a SW MP5 in 45cal, and I would like to have a sidearm that takes the same ammo.  Thanks for the response guys, and keep it coming.

My take is that the sprinfield pro is a very serious semi custom that may be above the appreciation level of most casual pistol shooters.  If you are already a discerning collector, and this isn't your first 1911, than by all means, get one.  It is a fantastic pistol.  I bought my first semi-custom last month, and the springfield was on my short list of choices, but they aren't easy to find.

I already own more than half a dozen 1911s, including a couple springer "loaded"s and a TRP, which helped guide my decision.  If you are going to spend the kind of money that the Pro commands, be absolutley sure that the features it provides are what you want.  If it isn't, then Baer, Brown, and Wilson, make fine guns, too.  If you aren't sure now, find a used Loaded or TRP, and have a custom smith make it yours, once you figure out what you like.

Sounds like a good fit and I'm sure you'll be happy.  I've got a Custom Shop 10-8 Operator which is basically a TRP with a rail and a few other little goodies, and it's a great piece.  Plus, all of the other TRPs I've looked at in gun shops are really well put together pistols.  I agree with skipping the rail too, especially if you plan to CCW the pistol.

I feel the same way when it comes to a rail.  I have an M&P 9mm with a rail on it already.  I just read up a little more on the TRP, and I must say I am digging it a lot.  You guys are making me feel better now, even though I wanted the Professional that price is a little high, and I would like to buy other stuff besides one firearm.

Thanks for the input.  The more I look at the options the more I think you are right.  I like the Professional, but if the TRP is a fine shooter that costs less then I think that would be a better deal for someone who is new to the 1911 scene.  From the sounds of it I can't go wrong, and I like that when it comes to firearm selection.

Yep, I came on here looking for advice on a Loaded or Kimber Series 2 over a year ago and ignored the guys that told me to save up and go with the TRP.

I dropped my Loaded off to a custom shop months ago to get checkered, better barrel, action job, and melonited and it's gonna end up costing more than the TRP would have. I think I'd have been happy as hell to just buy the TRP.

Shit, I STILL want one!

I'm happy as a pig in slop with my TRP.  It shoots like a dream.  I'm sure you'll be pleased if you choose that model.  You can also save yourself some $$ by going with the TRP over the Professional and may not even notice a difference between the two.  BTW - my TRP has the rail.

I like the bull barrel, but then again both my 1911s have them, so I have nothing to make a comparison against.

I just had to many things go wrong with my Kimbers switched Springers and never looked back, now I have a MC Operator, TRP and a Professional, I even sold my Wilson as I think the TRP and Pro are every it as good if not better.  My only wish is that I had enough coin to buy a Pro with a rail

That's cheating.

It's like showing up to an impromptu red light to red light race with a 4000hp Pro-stock.

Have you considered the MC Operator?

I think the literature says its just a loaded with a frame but I've heard they take a little more care with them.  Its a few hundred less than a TRP.
