I'm in the market for a 1911. I've been looking at the SA Mil-Spec, which looks like a great weapon for a smaller budget. But after doing a little more looking, I discovered Springfield's 1911 offerings in 9mm. Particularly, I'm looking at the "Loaded Combat Fullsize 9x19." (PX9130LP) Shooting 9mm is a lot easier on my student budget, and I wouldn't be doing any serious competition, or carry, with this weapon. Is this a nice pistol? It's my understanding that SA has a pretty good reputation around here. Is there anything about the loaded model that sets it apart from the Mil-Spec? ETA: Or is shooting a 1911 in 9mm wrong and I should just stick to .45, and shoot 9mm in my P226?

| I have a government size SA in 9mm, though it is an older model from the loaded series, and not the one you asked about. Mine runes great, and is fun to shoot. Mine is Stainless, with Novak fixed low-profile sights, and over sized safety, mag release and slide release. |
Yes to both. Lifetime warranty too, nothing to sneeze at, IMO.
Night & day difference. "Loaded" means just that: all the bells & whistles. "Mil-spec" is pretty basic, but still a good gun. I own one in .45acp, although I have added some mods such as a new NM barrel. My .o2 |

Hello there, I remember what it was like to be a college student on a fixed income and still wanting some things to play with. There is nothing wrong with 1911's in 9mm, they seem fun to shoot. I am wanting a 9mm 1911 also, but I will probably have my Mil-Spec .38 Super fitted to a 9mm brl and go back and forth. I found my Mil-Spec for a pretty good price and by the time I have a brl fitted and some mags I am still way under the loaded pistols. Nothing wrong with going the Loaded pistols either, they have a lot of nice features that pay for themselves quick if you had to add them at a later date. What ever you decide have fun! |

I like the 1911 in 9mm. Mine is a home build with an additional fitted .38super barrel and bushing. Cheap practice for your .45 with incredible follow up 2nd-3rd shots. I would jump in and get one. ' target='_new'>  9mm 1911 just after refinishing (had not put the Bo-Mar back on it yet). I am not a big fan of adjustable sights on a fighting handgun, but on a dual cal. weapon they make sence. |
