| What do you think of the trigger on the new XD pistols? I have only shot the XD45 5" however i would'nt think that there would be much difference between the trigger in the 9mm, 40s&w, and the 45 but im sure its possible. From my expierence the trigger seemed pretty light from what I expected it to be but seemed to have alot of slop in it too. There was also (im not exactly sure of the correct term) alot of movement forward after the shot was fired before the trigger reset itself. Has anyone else noticed this? Could this be due to the fact that I am used to the triggers in my Kimbers (Stainless TLE II and Eclipse Target II)? All serious responces are well appreciated. By the way, I am seriously thinking about buying one of these pistols, I just want some feedback before I make my decision. Thanks. |

I prefer the glock trigger, the reset on the XD is twice as long and you dont get that satisfing click that you can feel and hear like on a glock to let you know its time to fire again. The XD trigger just feels mushy to me. Having said that i comes down to preferance, i like my Glock 17 and 33, but the XD .40 i have isn't too bad either, all three are damn reliable. |
I just bought an XD9 last fall. When you say reset more like a 1911 are you talking about the trigger travel to the front being shorter, as in really short like a 1911? Know what Springfield charges and the turnaround for the work? I can contact them, but thought you might have some experience. Thanks. |

I wanted an XD until I rented one last weekend. Now I'm glad I didn't buy one. The trigger reset was absolutely horrible for me. I, too, am used to 1911s and Glocks, but even my Sig had a short reset compared to the XD40. Through a box of ammo, I caught myself several times not allowing it to reset, which made for a "no bang" scenario. |

Canyon Creek does what many XDers consider the best trigger job. They have various levels from a 4lb carry down to a 2lb competion that takes out all overtravel and creep and as I said elsewhere and was laughed at by those who haven't experienced their work, it's comparible to a 1911 tuned trigger. For carry I prefer the stock XD trigger as it has some leeway even if my finger is on the trigger but after shooting my roommate's CC tuned racegun I will have that one done to my new IDPA XD. |
