Let me start by saying that I'm not new to guns, just new to 1911s. I was talking with my brother and telling him I was looking into picking up a Springfield Armory GI Champion and he said "let me show you my Springfield." He digs out a plastic case and inside is a well worn Springfield Arms 1911. It was GIVEN to him by an old friend who's heath is failing. He was told that the gun was GI issue from WWI, and a family heirloom. Can someone tell me an approximate production date? It has a serial No. 113510.

If it's a true WW1 issue, then it was obviously made in the first several years of production. WW1 started in 1914, the 1911 started, well, you know when...............

There are some real 1911 buffs over in the 1911 Forum, I would try there for help, IMO.

Good luck!

According to my Blue Book it is 1915 (and the 13th one made that year, it started with 113497).
