It's not the prettiest 1911, its not the tightest (sure ain't loose), but she can freaking shoot.
Runs everything I've put through it, which is just shy of 1k rounds. The only issue I've had is with this one wilson mag, but this mag as been problematic in every 1911 I've owned. So I traded it for another mag with ironhandjohn and naturally it works just fine for him. First thing to go was the 2 piece FLGR, replaced it with a GI setup. Removed the ambi safety and put in an old style colt new agent / WWI safety. Also gave it the Eezox treatment to be CCW friendly in this nice and cool TN summer climate. I bought the magpul grips as a $20 "I'll try em out" kind of purchase, and in the end I really like them. Took some pics this afternoon so I thought I'd share. In the end it is a solid, well built, and good shooting 1911 that does not break the bank DSC_3861 by The Dorsal Fin, on Flickr

I really like mine as well. The only problem I have always had is the rear sight screw loosens up as I shoot so I always have to have an Alen key in the range bag. Also I sent it back to springfield because my sear broke. They tighten the piss out of the slide. It took ten minutes just to get the slide back on the rails after field strip. It shoots 100% still But I have now had a few fail to feeds with my CM mags now. |

Looks like a DIY Hackathorn front sight. Very cool. |

I loved my Spingfield Loaded. Never had any issues with it. I regret selling it to a friend to fund the purchase of a Colt Rail Gun. At least I know it's in good hands. Does the colt do anything better than the loaded? I've got a hankering for adding another 1911 to the collection that has a rail. If it doesn't - I'll get the surefire MR07 for this and a case of ammo and call it a day. That way id also not have to acquire more holsters |
| Doesn't do anything better. Loaded was flawless for about 4,000 rounds. So far the colt has been as well. Luckily the bladetech holster I used for my loaded also fits my railgun. I just need to get a holster that allows me to leave the light on the rail gun. The railgun is slightly heavier but not by much. Wish I could have kept the loaded but I needed to sell it to fund the colt. I got the cerakoted rail gun and it is showing holster wear faster than my loaded did. |

How do you like those Magpul grips? I like them a lot. For $18 shipped it was worth trying them out. I've quit looking for grips since they arrived. They are actually quite grippy, the mag release scoop is outstanding, and they are nice and thin. For the price - you should try a set. |
| You have a very nice looking weapon there fin.....I have several 1911's but no springers and am about to pull the trigger on a 9mm RO.....I'm glad I seen your thread otherwise I would not have seen those MOE grips of yours...I always change out the worthless to me wooden cocobolo's everybody seems to put on there 1911's as their stock grips.......My last 1911 grip change I put some Hogue rubber ones on and was happy with those but I think after seeing and hearing about yours I will give them a try especially at $20. |

| I got one before they came with ambi safeties or ILS, yeah I don't care for those either, but the one thing I hated on mine was the forward serations on the slide. They were SHARP! They were chewing up a nice leather holster. I milled mine off and made it look kinda like a browning high power. The 2 piece FLGR was a HUGE POS as well. I had to tighten it with my leatherman tool several times just to get through one CCW class. Mine also has a GI set up in it now. Mine's 15 years old now and it has been abused and most of the finish is gone but it is still a nice gun. |

200 rounds of Tula packed and ready to go for this mornings range trip. Have yet to have a Tula related malfunction with this pistol, so the test continues. I shoot nothing but Tula in my Rock Island...it loves the stuff. I stick to brass with my other 1911's. I have no reasonably objective reason for this practice, but it makes me feel better. |

Forgive the pics - it was raining this morning and did not feel like dragging the DSLR out.
As expected - all 200 rounds went off without a hitch. I did notice the different grips made an impact on my POI - the magpul grips grouped a smidge left compared to the Pachmayr's. Before: IMG_0951 by The Dorsal Fin, on Flickr

I like the Pachs better, but why'd ya cut the front off?? You runnin' Powermags? I've got two sets of pach's and find the front eats up my middle finger. So one set met the exacto knife
Either powermags or mecgars for the range and powermags for any CCW / HD |
