Wanted some 8 round .45 mags for my loaded and pickup two of Kimbers.  With 7 rounds, the Kimbers with seat within the pistol while 8 rounds will not?  The magazine stops 1 1/2" from being fully seated.

I tried my 230 RN reloads, factory, and some 185gr HP.

If I move the top round away from the back of the magazine 1/16" to 1/8"  if does seat.   Not a good option.

Anyone else using Kimbers, any ideas ?

I have no problems with my 2 dozen Kimber KimPro Tac mags which consist of 7rd Officer and 8rd Government sizes. After loading a mag from any gun of any brand I tap the back of the mag on the palm of my hand to make sure all bullets are seated to the rear. Some people will even put their finger on the front of the top round when inserting a fresh magazine so it doesn't become fouled.

If we're talking about 8rd Kimber factory mags...they suck.

The KimPro Tac mags are some of the best around.

If they are regular blued factory mags, I'd look at that as my prime suspect.

Yea, I wasn't sure what type he was talking about either but wanted to give my input on Kimber KimPro mags. Thing is I've never had a problem seating a fully loaded standard Kimber mag in any of my 1911s, one of them being a SA loaded.

 They are Kimber "KimPro Tac-Mag".

Edit: It does not matter if they are loaded to 8 or not.  If I don't push the case 1/16 off the back of the mag it won't load.

6 factory SA 7 rounders work the, two Kimbers don't.

7 round mags rarely have these kind of troubles.

The 8 round mags can be a bit more problematic.  I would try some different 8rd mags and see if they work.  Ammo could be another issue.  Some of my reloads won't load to 8 in any of my 8rd mags because the case and OAL dimensions are not exactly right.

Does the mag seat when the slide is locked back?

Try taking apart the mag and make sure the spring is installed correctly and nothing is out of the ordinary.
