I've been thinking about making a Springfield MC Operator my first 1911.

Anybody have an idea on the going rate for one of these new? I really don't want to spend over $1,300 on this. Before you say TRP, yes, I would love to have a TRP. But I want a rail and Novak style sights. Adjustible style sights just don't work with my eyes (have shot both, friend owns the railed TRP and a Loaded). So that leaves me with the Operator series.

I want the rail because when it's not being carried it will have a light on it for HD use.

Thanks everyone.

I have a LW Operator and is a great gun. Very reliable. I think you should be able to find a MC op for about 1k pretty easily.

Ditto on the 1K, so be it I seen some on gunbroker in the past for upto 1400, I paid 1079 out the door for mine last week... I actually put it on layway with 880 down, still need to pay 200 to actually get it, so I can not comment shooting it, but everyone else how has one has said they really liked it, was accurate, and not magazine picky. Now finding one..... that will be the hard"er" part.

I paid $1250 for mine and I don't regret it one bit. Mine has been a duty gun for the past year and sees a lot of use in both patrol and SWAT duty. I have owned 4 1911's before (3 Springfields and 1 Kimber). Even though they have all been excellent weapons, (except the Kimber)this is by far the best and most accurate I've owned.

I picked up an MC Operator last August. It was "USED" but never fired. A safe queen I guess. I paid $850 plus sales tax & nics. I love this 1911. I was really looking for a "Loaded Stainless Model" at the time, but my permits were ready to expire. I got a great gun for a great price. I'm still breaking it in!

Call CDNN, I bet they have one for around 1,000.  I just bought a TRP Operator (non-railed) for 1,100.

Fixed it for you.  The "Operator" designation is used by Springfield for it's railed guns.
