| So I have one of these and to be honest with you, I really do not like the Ambi-Safety. Is there anyway I can remove one half, the right side not the left side, without sending this off to the smith? Is it a simple pull out process? Instructions are very welcome! |

No. It needs the other half to function. You have to replace the whole thing with a standard extended safety. And then face the wrath of everyone on here for F'n with your Springer! 
I replaced my ambi safety on my loaded Champ with a Fusion stainless. It's uglier than sin but it's exactly what I want. |
| the issue is I dont need, or want really, an ambi safety. As a right handed shooter, I simply dont think I would need it. I'm sure there are a million what if situations that could be thrown around, but considering it would entail buying a part, and then installing the part, I'll leave it as is. Thanks for ya'lls help |

Thanks for ya'lls help In time, as you learn about the 1911's design and function and become comfortable with disassembly and assembly, you will find that it doesn't really take much to replace your ambi-safety with a regular thumb safety. There are several threads/articles on this in this website and many other forums elsewhere on the internet where you can read about this very same issue. Good luck and have fun with your Operator. They are awesome pistols!
