Has anyone had any experience with this weapon? Good or Bad? I am looking into one and want to hear from the group of those "who have" experience.

Tag on this one, I have never shot one but did see one at a shop.

Looked like a nice handgun.

Check with SGB here...he stole one sometime last year and seems to think a lot of it...that is recommendation enough for me if i was in the market, especially considering how impressed I have been with my TRP.

You can not find a better custom 1911 work horse. Yes I classify the Pro as a custom as the entire gun is hand assembled by a single smith at the Springfield Armory Custom shop to the FBI contract specifications. Only the over run pistols go to the civilian market.

The Pro is insanely accurate, the trigger breaks like glass at 5lbs and the lock up is perfect. The Pro is ment to be used, it is a work gun and mine has gone through over 5000 rounds by half a dozen shooters without a single malfunction.

Yeah I'd say I'm pretty sold on the Pro.

My Pro doesn't have a CRG serial#, but rather is a WWII I sent the custom shop for the full Pro package.  It is a Pro though, and I will tell you, you MUST have one.  Excellent craftsmanship, excellent quality, and SA are great people to work with!  The gun was made to work, and work it does.

I'd reach out for Deb at the Custom Shop after she gets back from the SHOT show.  SA has a real custom shop and should be able to do anything you want if you pay the price!!  You may not be able to get a CRG serial number if they do a .40 for you though.

No. The Pro is built to FBI contract specifications. They'll build you the same package in .40 but it won't have the CRG ser # prefix nor the Professional rollmark.

I own 3 because their prices at the time of purchase was too good to be true, and have nothing but good to say regarding them.  I like Les Baer's product as well, but the PRO is everything "I" want in a 1911 (I've owned and carried a 1911 since 1982).  You might look at Nighthawk and Baer before you settle on anything.  I did, and I settled on the PRO.

Shot one yesteray as a friend let me use his, my question is does anyone else find the 20lpi a bit rough? I was told the FBI wanted that as they mostly are shooting with gloves on. My other .45's are 30lpi and I really noticed quite a difference. Just wondering after a long weekend of tactical shooting would your hand not be raw? The reason why I ask, is that even though I live in MN, most of the time I would not be wearing gloves.

20 LPI never bothers me.  But it is of course subjective.  I love sharp diamonds on 20 lpi; the 30 lpi feels to me like a smoother skateboard tape.

I like the 20lpi myself.

Look at it as an opportunity to toughen up your hands.

I have a TRP with 20LPI, and like it very much indeed.

I have been reading everything I can find on the Pro and the LB TRS.  My shop has one of each and just happen's I am turning 30 in two weeks so I figured I need a bday present.  Wife said ok

I am 99% set on the Pro but I wish the front strap was high cut.  I love the way my CQB is cut and the Pro feels a little different.  I think I can live with it but I emailed Deb at the Customshop to find out if they can highcut the strap, rechecker and refinish it.  I don't want to order it that way do to the length of time and it wouldn't say Professional on the side.

Keep the comments coming, I am close to picking one up.

I love my Pro.

I also thought the 20 lpi was rough at first. Now I kinda like it. I have two guns on order with 25lpi though cause just a lottle softer would be nice. If you handle the Pro enough you will get used to it.

Bryan,
Just buy the Pro already!!!! You know you want it.  And you have an IM on 1911forum
