They are two different animals, however, based on CCW and IWB I say the 1911. I carry a full sized 1911 IWB now and love it. Prior to this I carried a Glock30(compact .45) IWB and did not like it at all most days. If anything the longer slide on the 1911 made carry EASIER. The longer slide goes slightly past the spots on my hip that the G30 would always rub and jab. Plus, my pants fit better carrying 1911 IWB than with the G30 because of the thinner slide which means less adjusting and thereby less telegraphing that I may have a weapon on. I have to draw the longer barrel but with a tad bit of practice and a great holster it is very quick on the draw. and I am lots more accurate with the 1911 than I ever was with the shorter barreled Glock so I am more comfident in my choice as well, even though I went down 2 rounds per mag. As a matter of fact today I took my 5 year old and 18 month old kids to the zoo and park today carrying the 1911 IWB. I did lots of stooping, chasing after, bending and carrying kids wearing a t-shirt tucked in and a light windbreaker zipped half way up. I never once felt like I was exposing the weapon or imprinting badly AND I wasn't getting jabbed all day everytime I stooped or bent or sat like the slightly thicker polymer framed .45 always did. When I had my G30 I would have looked at the day's activities and just left it locked in the vehicle or at home and would never do any good there. I sold the G30 a few weeks after I purchased, broke in, and started carrying the 1911. I had zero need for it anymore and I won't ever regret selling it. |
