I have a few questions about the Springfield TRP.

1. Where is the frame and slide forged and then finished?

2. What parts are forged and what are MIM? Do they do all of their parts in house, or do they get the parts from other makers like Ed Brown, Nighthawk, etc for the TRP?

3. How are they for dependability and accuracy? Are they a match pistol or a pistol that could be an EDC?

1.  parts come from Brazil (Imbel).  fitting & assembly is done in the US
2.  small parts (including hammer & sear) are MIM
3.  It's both dependable & accurate.nice tight fit for a production gun.  CCW or match, it's up to you.

Most of the small parts are MIM.  I have never had one break or seen one break.  The gun is very dependable.  There are 25 operators on our SWAT team and 15 have 1911's.  Of those 15 12 are TRP's, the other 3 are Pro's.  That should tell you how dependable and accurate they are.  You should be able to do consistant head shots at 50 yds.......on paper of course.

For what it's worth, Springfield has a reputation for making some of the best MIM parts in the industry...

Interesting.

I sent in my Springfield GI to my smith a month ago or so, and will be getting a package that is like the TRP, but with top shelf internals. My wife likes it, and wants one too...so I was thinking it might be a good idea.

However, given the internals, I will just have my smith build one to her specs.
