Does anyone own one? I stopped into a local Gstore to take a look, and I really liked it..

Your thoughts,
Rob

ive had mine for about a year now.  i love it, it feels great and is a great fit to my hand, it shoots VERY well in my opinion, its easy to take apart and clean, and has held up well.  i have minimal color fade/wear on the slide (from where it goes into my holster) and aside from that....i give it an A+

I have had a 9 & 40 and both were commandeered by my Sister.

I will get another 40 within a month!

Is $449 NIB a good price for the 4"?

$449 is what I got my 5" OD XD-40 for, just came in Tuesday, and shot it yesterday without one problem at all.

WIZZO

BTW, those people that say the .40 is too harsh aught to stop crying, the 180 grainers I shot were nothing special in the recoil department......perfectly controllable IMHO

I agree, i put 100 rounds of 180 grain through my 40 today and i defiantly wouldn't call it harsh.

I bought an XD40 for the wife, she's burned the first 1K rounds through it in about 3 months and working on her 2nd thousand.   We've had no malfunctions except those caused by reloads that were oversized and wouldnt fit the chamber.   All fired were miwall 180gr FMJ reloads and at $89/K I can live with a few oversized rounds.

The only real drawback I can find is it holds 3 less rounds than the comparable glock.

The advantages are many, including better sights, safety, grip angle.

I agree with the latter, but not the former.

I also have a G23, has 13 round mags, my XD has 12 rd mags. Lose one round. My G22 holds 15 iirc (another Sister has that one), but imo is a larger firearm. I think the G23 & the XD are the same size.

I need less Sisters, nahhhh, they make more firearms.

I got one here, got it pretty cheap, feels nice, but it likes to rust on me, Im selling it as soon as I shoot the rest of my 40 ammo.

I've heard folks say that SA will coat the slide for you if you complain of rust.   Even if you dont keep it this may enhance it's resale value....  ?

I'll try to give them a call one day.

I almost traded my XD357 in OD green for a Glock 30 and would have if the 30 owner hadn't backed out.  After taking it to the range last week I am glad he did.  I have decided to keep it.  It is a good shooter and the .357 sig is a hammer of a round.   That puppy is loud at an indoor range.  It needs a set of decent sights, maybe a ghost ring rear sight, and a heavier recoil spring with a Don's guide rod.  The factory spring is weak and sometimes fails when chambering a round.

Shoot them both. I did and liked the XD a little better. But everybody is different. Both of those are nice guns. either should be fine, just go for the one that feels best.

i have the 4' xd in 9mm and i think its a excellent firearm, i have 1500 rounds thru it without a single hiccup, and its very easy to clean compared to some of my other handguns.     i wouldnt hesitate to buy another xd.

I e-mailed them and they told me they will refinish it free of charge. With their "new" finish. I suppose it is better.

I have been reading a lot in magazines and people love the XD's. Never any rust problems reported in magazines but in real life it has happened.

But if SA's new finish is ok I may get a XD. I tried to get a glock 19 on trade but it didn't happen. So now I may get a XD after all. With the light of course.

The 4'' XD 9mm holds 15+1 just like a glock 19. IIRC the XD is a hair bigger than a midsize glock. Not by much if any.

I can't decide if I want to get a subcompact or a 4'' now.
