So I recently purchased a new Springfield loaded 1911 in stainless. I was excited to test the new gun as I had great expectations because I own several Springfields and they all work great.
I went to the range and to my surprise it shot 5 inches low and 5 inches left at 7 yards. I called Springfields customer service and they sent me a new rear sight (Novak style) .050 taller. I installed the new rear sight and went to the range. The elevation was corrected however the rear sight had to be moved so far to the right that it was hanging over the edge of the slide. Another call to springfield customer service ( very helpfull friendly people) and they E-mailed me a shipping label and requested the gun be sent to them for evaluation / repair. Anyone have a similar experiance and what might I expect from Springfield when they send it back? |

This will give you some idea what to expect. Many years ago my dad bought a used stainless Loaded at a big Dallas pawn shop. He got it fairly cheap since it was advertised as having a problem. He took it to the range and saw that it was shooting a weird group- kind of a horizontal oval. He called Springfield and they said to send it in. He told them he had bought it used and they didn't care. It came back with a match barrel and bushing fitted to the slide and the slide fitted to the frame. It was a very tight accurate pistol. I bought it from dad and have used it for bullseye and plate matches for the last 7 or 8 years. I have changed springs when necessary, and changed the extractor a few years ago. I use a reddot scope now but the sights were pretty good. SA also said they would honor the Loaded coupons that were still in the box. I am still using the mags he bought from them. SA customer service is good. You won't be disappointed. Jim |
| The Novak rear sight on my new Loaded worked itself out of the dovetail under recoil. I called Springfield Armory and they provided a shipping label. I sent the slide back to SA; within 10 days they had turned it back around. They had also installed a taller rear sight - not sure why as I wasn't complaining about Point of Impact - but I understand that a number of Loadeds were printing low and perhaps they now install the taller rear as a matter of course. Haven't had a chance to get it back out to the range, but I'm impressed by what I've seen from SA's customer service. |

I've got the loaded and mine is dead on. Their customer service is great and you should get back an awesome firearm. My loaded is by far my favorite. +1 Same here, my SS Loaded Champion is a fine shooter. I have had to send mine in for repair to fix a front sight roll pin that backed out due to improper staking and when I got it back there were vise marks on both sides of the slide w/ multiple scratches. Not sure how it got out the door that way. I called Springfield and they paid to get it back to them again. To my surprise when I got it back the second time they actually refinished the entire slide and put a new rear Trijicon night sight on it. Very nice folks and great all around CS!!! |

I usually put around 3k rounds per year through mine- for the last 10 years.
Mine is stainless, and some will tell you they are not as tough as a blued pistol. The lockup of the barrel to bushing, barrel to slide, bushing to slide and slide to frame is still tight. There isn't any play that I can feel and accuracy is still great. I shoot with a reddot scope and would be able to tell immediately if accuracy started falling off. The only maintenance I have had to do aside from cleaning and lubrication is to occasionally clean up the hammer and sear surfaces. I use grease where appropriate and light oil elsewhere. I shoot a handload of a 200gr LSWC over 4.5gr WST. It isn't hardball, but it ain't a powderpuff load either. I have replaced the extractor with a Wilson Bullet Proof- after about 5k rounds, and the recoil spring with a 16# Wolff. The only time I had trouble it was with my handloads. The pistol itself has never let me down. Jim |

Springfield Armory delivered my gun today and so far it looks great.
They installed a new rear sight, new barrel, link, barrel bushing and fit the slide to the frame. Also supplied was a test target to verify their work. I have not been to the range yet but it really looks like they some effort into it. |

My 11-year-old Loaded. She's had some work done by the Springfield Custom Shop. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh126/bklynirish/SA_LW1911_Starboard_Side_NOV10.jpg Did yours come without an ambi safety? The reason I ask is that I have a stainless Loaded that has an ambi and an older without. I think my older 1911 is pre-Loaded but I have had trouble finding out much about it. This SA is parkerized and has a National Match barrel and bushing and is very tightly fit. Jim |

hate to jump on the band wagon here.
bought my loaded this time last year. put nearly 1k rounds though it to "break it in." using a variety of magazines i'm continually having the same issues. failure to feed, failure to extract. this has happened with remington, winchester, and blazer ammo. all 230 gr hardball. its also happened with the factory 7 round mags and wilson 47D's with brand new springs. the failure to feeds are the type where it feeds em partially, but they get hung up and it doesn't close fully into battery, about 1/4 inch from closing fully. coupled with the occasional failure to extracts, i'm guessing its an extractor issue. figured 1k rounds through it was enough of a break in period and i finally called SA today. told the nice lady what was going on. she got my info and said to expect an email within the hour for a shipping label. I was still on the phone with her when the email came through she also said that i could still fill out my loaded coupon and send it in with the pistol and they'd take care of me. i'm not complaining in the least about the gun. i knew that if i were to have any issues, SA's warranty would take care of me. I just gotta find a box suitable to pack it in. |

All these issues sound typical of SA. I had a TRP I had to send back because of a tight mag-well and sloppy fitting as well as blemishes in the finish. It literally looked like someone used a dremel tool to cut the mag-well into the frame. SA simply replaced the frame using the parts from the old gun and I ended up with a 1911 that looked like it was built from the spare parts bin. In an attempt to remedy the issue I requested to pay whatever SA determined to be the price difference to upgrade to a pro model. Mind you at this point the TRP was still new and never fired. I was told this was not possible and I was stuck with a sub-par TRP. This was the second TRP I purchased since I was so fond of my first one. As a result of this experience I have sold both and will no longer consider anything SA makes.
It is good to hear SA's customer service is very attentive because you are going to need it. |

For another side of the Coin all my dealings with SA have been great, and it was one of the driving factors for my purchase of the new RO line. |

my loaded came back today!
shipped out last monday. received today (tuesday) so total turn around time was 8 days. according to the spec sheet they throated the chamber, polished the feed ramp, and adjusted the extractor. gun was cleaned prior to me shipping it out, it was filthy when it came back. gave me the feeling that they def. put more than just a mag through it to function test it only had one minor issue. I wasn't notified ahead of time that FedEx was coming by today to deliver. luckily i was home in order to receive the package. I thought that i was supposed to receive a phone call ensuring that i'd be available to receive it. i'll be able to take it out to the range in a few weeks. i'll post a progress report then. |

Update on Customer Service.
I had some machine marks and a dip in the slide on my Springfield PX9109LP. When I called they were very nice and gave me a rma# and shipping label. I got it back today and it looks perfect, evidently they replaced the slide and sights. I am very happy with the service I received. |
